Our story begins back in the 80’s when Jaffa Street looked very different from what we see today.
Back then, small work-shops were the main attraction in the street. A carpenter’s, a tailor’s, an aluminum work-shop, small grocery shops and an old vegetable market. Our father was one of those with a work-shop right here. He was a metalworker making railings, gratings and decorative window bars.
In the early 90’s Jaffa street began to change. There was no longer enough space for work-shops to operate, so our father decided to branch out and build a hotel instead. This is when the Avital Hotel story began.
The old street started to change. New buildings and businesses took over from the old ones. The new line of the light-train service, which runs the whole length of Jaffa Street, has also brought about huge changes. The old market started to share the space with new, up-market culinary establishments and a vibrant nightlife.
Our hotel too was refurbished and got itself a new look. Our father retired and we, his children, carried on from where our father had left off. Our agenda has remained the same: we always want our guests to feel that they have come home and this means individual attention for everyone in a superb location and at fair prices.
